YANGON, 31 Aug - Volunteers of Taninthayi Division who participatied in the rehabilitation tasks in Yangon and Ayeyawady Divisions were honoured at Pale Yadana Hall in Myeik yesterday.
Chairman of Taninthayi Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Coastal Region Command Maj-Gen Khin Zaw Oo delivered an address.
Next, a member of Union Solidarity and Development Association and a fishing boat maker recounted their experiences.
The commander and Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein presented certificates of honour and gifts to USDAs of Myeik and Dawei districts and Thaninthayi Division Fishery Department and Fishery Association and fishing boat makers.
A coordination meeting on boosting of fishery products of the division was held at the same venue with addresses by the commander and the minister.
Next, personnel of the fishing industries reported on their respective tasks and the commander and the minister fulfilled the needs. Afterwards, the commander and the minister attended cash donation ceremony to fire victims of Thechaung Village at Division USDA office in Myeik.
At the cash donation, Minister Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein presented K 2 million and supplies, Chairperson of Division Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee Daw Khin Than Htay and Chairperson of Division Women's Affairs Organization Daw Aye Aye Kyaw 100 exercise books each to fire victims.
YANGON, 31 Aug- Efforts are being made for building the education infrastructure for new generations of storm-hit regions, especially in Ayeyawady Division. said Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Maj-Gen Maung Maung Swe who is also Secretary of National Disaster Prevared dnees Central Committee at the coordination meeting on requirements of repairing schools and school furniture in undertaking rehabilitation and reconstruction of storm-hit regions, at the hall of Fire Services Department in Mayangon Township, yesterday.
The minister also said that the plan is under way to rebuild the damaged schools. He urged the international organizations to focus on building schools and fulfilling requirements of school furniture.
Officials of the ministry and responsible persons of UN Agencies and INGOs reported on their respective sectors. The meeting ended with concluding remarks by the minister.
Nay Pyi Taw, 30 Aug - As a token of sympathy for storm survivor women in Ayeyawady Division, CEC member Daw Ni Ni Win of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation handed over K 30 million donated by the federation to Ayeyawady Division WAO Patron Daw Win Win Maw and General Secretary Dr Daw Myint Kyi, relief supplies by All China Women's Federation to Chairperson of Division WAO Daw Yi Yi Aung and chairpersons of District WAOs. Later, they discussed systematic allotment of cash to the women from storm-hit townships.
